Feedback on: sustainability metrics dashboard for startups

Working on a dashboard that helps startups track their carbon footprint. Integrates with cloud providers to estimate compute emissions, tracks travel and office utilities, generates investor-ready reports. My concern: is this a vitamin or a painkiller? Do startups actually need this or is it a nice-to-have?

The investor report angle is smart. Frame it as "fundraising tool" not "sustainability tool." Founders buy things that help them raise money. They are less motivated by environmental tracking for its own sake (unfortunately).

I would focus the MVP on cloud compute emissions only. That is automated and easy to measure. Travel and office utilities require manual input which kills adoption. Get the automated part right first, then expand.

It is becoming a painkiller. More VCs are requiring ESG metrics in due diligence. I know at least 3 startups that scrambled to put together sustainability data for their Series A. If you can make that process painless, there is real value. But the market is early-stage companies that are raising funding - not all startups.
