SolomonSignal ("SolomonSignal", "we", "us") is operated by Solomon Technology. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over your data. It applies to www.solomonsignal.com and any subdomain we operate. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the site.

1. Information We Collect

We collect three categories of information:

  • Information you provide directly — name, email address, profile picture, and any content you submit (idea drafts, product listings, comments, votes, forum posts).
  • Information collected automatically — IP address, approximate location (city/country), device type, operating system, browser, referrer, the pages you view and the time you spend on them, search queries you make on the site, and standard server log data.
  • Information from third parties — authentication providers you choose (such as Google or GitHub sign-in), analytics partners, and advertising partners (including Google AdSense) who may set cookies on this site.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • operate the SolomonSignal platform — creating and authenticating your account, displaying your submitted content, processing votes and comments;
  • communicate with you about service updates, security notices, and (only if you opt in) marketing or product newsletters;
  • improve the site — measuring which pages and features are useful, identifying performance and reliability issues, debugging errors;
  • serve and personalise advertising — see Section 4 for the specifics;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service;
  • comply with legal obligations.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

SolomonSignal uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, measure traffic, and deliver advertising. Cookies fall into four categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (authentication session, CSRF protection). These cannot be disabled.
  • Functional — remember your theme choice, language preference, and dismissed notifications.
  • Analytics — measure aggregate traffic and feature usage. We use a first-party analytics product (AniltX) and may add Google Analytics 4 in the future.
  • Advertising — set by Google AdSense and the broader Google ad network to serve and measure advertising. These cookies are described in Section 4.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some categories may break parts of the site (in particular, authentication will not work without strictly-necessary cookies).

Consent for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. We use Google's Funding Choicesconsent management platform, certified under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.2), to obtain your affirmative consent before any non-essential cookies (including advertising cookies) are set. If you are in a region covered by GDPR or equivalent law, you will see a consent banner the first time you visit the site. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking the "Privacy options" link in the site footer.

4. Advertising and Third-Party Ad Serving

SolomonSignal is supported in part by advertising. We work with Google AdSense and may work with other advertising networks (collectively, "advertising partners") to display ads relevant to your interests. The following disclosures apply:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve adsbased on your prior visits to our website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our sites and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Personalised advertising can be turned off by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
  • You may also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or, for users in the EU/UK, YourOnlineChoices.com.
  • We may also use remarketing services (such as Google Ads remarketing) to show our advertisements to people who have previously visited the site. This relies on cookies set by Google. You can opt out using the links above.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the platform — hosting (Vercel and Supabase), email delivery, error monitoring, customer support tooling, and analytics.
  • Advertising partners as described in Section 4.
  • Legal authorities if required by valid legal process or to protect the rights, safety, or property of SolomonSignal, our users, or the public.
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to equivalent privacy commitments.

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations and to resolve disputes. Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained indefinitely. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 7).

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing activities. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR) or in California (CCPA/CPRA), specifically:

  • GDPR rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
  • CCPA/CPRA rights: right to know what we collect, right to delete, right to correct, right to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information, and right to limit use of sensitive personal information. SolomonSignal does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA, but the use of advertising cookies described in Section 4 may qualify as "sharing" under California law; you may opt out via the links in Section 4 or by emailing [email protected].

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by law (30 days under GDPR; 45 days under CCPA, with an option to extend).

8. Children

SolomonSignal is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest where supported by our infrastructure providers, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

10. International Data Transfers

SolomonSignal is operated from the United States and data is primarily processed in US-based infrastructure. If you access the site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other lawful mechanisms for international transfers as required by GDPR.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by posting a prominent notice on the site and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SolomonSignal after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
